Location:
Klayaat is 30 Km away from Beirut and about 1000 meters high from the sea surface. The Klayaat area measures 150,000 square meters, bordered on Raifoun from the Northern side, Kfardebian from the East, Daraya and Nahr El Salib from the South and Ajaltoun and Daraya from the West.
The Western side of Klayaat overlooks Beirut and the Northern Metn villages and towns, not to mention that it connects with the Salib River that separates the Metn District from Kesrwan. As for the Eastern side, it oversees the mountain tops from Kfardebian to Sannine and the upper side of the Metn District.
Kleyaat has developed an excellent network of transportations combining wide roads connected to one another on the inside, while another wide road links the town to Bikfaya village in the Metn District, and similar ways are built to connect it to Ajaltoun, Raifoun and Daraya villages. Klayaat is also equipped with a developed lighting network that meets the requirements of all seasons, assuring hence public safety. Furthermore, the municipality of Klayaat is working on building and developing public parks in a bid to protect the environment and maintain a modern landscape.
The municipality has recently established a charitable clinic, as well as sports stadiums in the Roumiyeh area, gardens and a public library, in an attempt to promote summer vacationing and provide leisure and comfort.
Climate:
Kayaat is known for its moderate and relatively dry climate, which attracts vacationers and ski lovers due to the nearby ski resorts. Locals never leave their town during winter thanks to the acceptable cold temperatures, which allows them to enjoy charming snowy landscape every once in a while.
Last but not least, many fountainheads run in Klayaat but dry out during the summer.
